About Puppy Bootcamp

PUPPY BOOTCAMP is a board and train service that is exclusively for puppies up to four months old that have joined your family. In order for your new puppy to successfully integrate into your family it is important that they receive some basic training to ensure it is easier on both the puppy and you, his new family.

How does it work?

Your new puppy comes to live on our farm, where for a short period of time it becomes part of our family and learns important new skills through positive reinforcement and lots of praise and love.  Designed to help the puppy learn to socialize in a respectful manner, with dogs, humans, and various other animals, they will also receive an amazing foundation in basic manners.

You can choose what you would like us to work on and we make a custom package for each individual puppy.

You will receive regular updates on how the training is coming along.

Pricing

$55/day (up to 2 weeks)

This includes Board and training of

  • Crate training during the day and sleeping through the night

  • Basic manners like no jumping up, bite inhibition and being polite

  • Basic skill of sit

  • Start to housetraining

  • Socializing with people

  • Dog to dog socializing with other suitable dogs

Can we customize traning?

We are able to customize the training to include important skills such as leash walking, grooming, traveling, stroller training (walking beside a stroller), and basic obedience such as sit, down, staying, leave it, and wait for their food. We also start working on recall to ensure your puppy comes when called.

See the yellow box below for more information.

What will they learn?

Although little, your amazing new family member is super smart and ready to take on new challenges.

Puppies will be crate trained, will learn to sleep through the night and house training will be started. Your puppy will also learn not to jump up on you and will learn bite inhibition.

How long do they stay?

Every puppy learns at a different pace so the time for training can vary. Generally, for the basic boot camp, it takes approx. 7 - 10 days to get the results we are looking for.

If you are looking to include some of our add-on options the total time will take approx. 14 days to get a good start on everything.

Since we are sending you regular updates, we can discuss each puppy and the progress we are making and decide on the duration of the stay as we go.

...and where do the puppies stay?

Our boot camp puppies need their first 2 vaccinations to attend, we have created a special puppy boot camp playground. It is located by our office and away from the main kennel area. The play area has artificial K9 turf that the folks from Forever Lawn have installed for us and it is amazing and safe for the puppies to play on. We can disinfect the entire area on a regular basis to keep the puppies from contracting any viruses that can be spread via feces from other dogs. The playground has mentally stimulating toys and we spend a lot of time playing games there. This is where they will also learn important social skills by playing with other puppies their age. During the day we go on walks around the farm where they can experience the sights and sounds of our farm animals in the safety of a waist leash as we go about our day and do chores. We work on recall out in our hayfield or down our long country driveway.

Inside the office each puppy has its own crate that we provide them with. This is where we put their bed and blanket and keep them comfortable. We provide each puppy with a “snuggle puppy” (stuffy with a heartbeat) to help them settle better.

In this area we have a camera set up so anytime the puppy might be upset it alerts us so we can go tend to them right away.

...and your puppy will have homework!

In order to ensure a smooth transition into your family home, you will be taught what your puppy has learned and you will need to reinforce the training and support them as they continue to grow. On the day you pick up your happy little camper Michelle will go through the training and show you some tricks, rewards used, and handouts, which may be used for reference. Continued support will be available as your puppy grows and new questions arise.

We also provide your puppy:

  • Crate for your puppy to sleep in

  • ”Snuggle puppy” for cuddling with while they stay here

  • Dehydrated liver treats for training

  • Bowls

  • Harness and leash

  • A comfortable place to stay

  • Consistency and positive energy

  • Lots of cuddles, praise and love
